Denman & Davis adds New Equipment-hosts customer open-house
SEPTEMBER 17, 2001, CLIFTON, NJ--Innovation is a critical dimension to success, and Denman & Davis steel service center is staying ahead of the curve with the purchase of new machines for faster production, tighter tolerances, and all around better service for their customers. The company unveiled the new equipment in an open house held on Friday September 14 at its Clifton, NJ headquarters.
David N. Deinzer, President and CEO unveiled a new MG MPC burning machine with two types of plasma torches: one which can burn up to 1-1/4 inch thick steel with speeds up to at 160 inches per minute, and high definition plasma which can burn up to 1 inch thick. The machine features advanced PC-based controls and cuts square edges to tight tolerances providing Denman & Davis customers with some of the lowest total cost parts in the Northeast market.
"This machine will open up a whole new market for us with its high definition plasma feature," said Rick Haeberle, Vice President General Manager. "It will enable us to provide more preprocessing, especially on holes where tight tolerances are required. We can now burn holes for customers where previously they required drilling. This represents a huge cost savings in handling and set-up times."
In addition, the Clifton warehouse has remodeled another bay with burning operations and, as a result, the new layout will house two MG 4500s covering a burning table 120 feet wide by 120 feet long. "This will enhance our productivity and provide ever-shorter lead times," said Haeberle.
"Everyone has been trained thoroughly on the new equipment," Deinzer emphasized. "In fact, we did not release the old equipment until everyone was comfortable working with the new machines."
Also recently installed, a new automatic horizontal band saw, a Behringer HBP303A, which will cut stainless steel bars. The new saw can cut a five-inch stainless round in 3-1/2 minutes. It has a 12- inch capacity.
"Our new equipment and increased product depth will enable us to offer our customers better products and better service," added Deinzer.
Denman & Davis is an ISO 9002 certified multi-location steel service center, supplying steel and other metal products to original equipment manufacturers, metalworking job shops, fabricators and maintenance and repair departments. The company is headquartered in Clifton, NJ.
