Denman and Davis Rolls Out Premium Stainless Steel Bar for Screw Machining
Eagle Melt 303 improves machining characteristics, to extend tool life and increase
productivity

CLIFTON, N.J. – November 16, 2005 – Denman and Davis, the Northeast’s largest full-line independent steel service center, announces the introduction of Eagle Melt, its new premium stainless steel bar. Designed to improve the performance consistency of screw-machining operations, Eagle Melt provides for better machining characteristics, resulting in better quality production, faster run-times, and fewer quality issues. Eagle Melt’s reliable and dependable performance allows machinists to confidently run the material again and again based on past performance – without stopping to set up machines or adjust the feed speed – for increased productivity. In the past, variations across key characteristics in different loads of the same grade steel have often forced machinists to test, calibrate and re-gauge their machines between piece runs. Eagle Melt premium stainless steel eliminates that time-consuming, laborious, and often frustrating process.

Denman and Davis is able to stand behind the consistency of Eagle Melt because it works directly with the mills to make certain that key physical properties, such as tensile strength and yield strength, conform to their exacting standards. “Working with the mill enables us to optimize specific properties and adjust the finishing process to create a material that meets our exact requirements,” said Kurt Deinzer, stainless bar manager for Denman and Davis. “It also standardizes each heat so there is more consistency with the heat before. Our customers know precisely how Eagle Melt’s going to run every time they use it, and that’s extremely important to them.” Eagle Melt is currently available for T303 grade steel, with other grades in development for release. The steel is available in 12’ / 12’2” lengths, which is a length that allows most screw machine industry operators to attain an accurate piece count.
